Children & Youth

The United Methodist Camp & Retreat Association is pleased to offer programming for the children and youth of those who want to make the 2017 United Methodist Camp/Retreat Leaders Gathering a memorable family experience. Programming will utilize Lakeview Methodist Conference Center facilities and will explore the native area of Palestine, TX.

Children’s and Youth Programs will be offered during all workshop and seminar sessions, freeing parents to fully enjoy the available learning opportunities while their children are enjoying age appropriate activities and experiences. Programs will be offered for Tuesday morning and afternoon sessions, Wednesday morning, and Thursday morning and afternoon sessions. Wednesday afternoon is designated as “free” time when families may pick from a variety of activities to enjoy together.

The United Methodist Camp & Retreat Association understands the importance of making it possible for participants with children to attend the Gathering. Therefore, the children’s and youth programming is provided without a program fee. It’s our hope that this will make the 2017 National Gathering an awesome family experience.  Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact the Childcare Coordinator, Kim VanGundy at kimvangundy76@gmail.com

To register your children, simply provide the requested information about your children on the registration form. A more detailed registration packet will be sent to you prior to the event.

Deep Sea Discovery

During the week long National Camp Leader’s Gathering the children & youth will learn about Genesis 28:15 “God is with me and will watch over me wherever I go”!

deep-sea-discovery

We are using the Deep Sea Discovery curriculum to explore different themes, review the theme verse, sing Dee Sea Discovery songs, watch some mission stories and enjoy some character skits.  We have two sessions on Tuesday (morning and afternoon) and two sessions on Thursday (morning and afternoon).

Each time we gather we’ll explore a different theme:

Tuesday morning – “God KNOWS me”

Tuesday afternoon – “God HEARS me”

Thursday morning – “God STRENGTHENS me”

Thursday afternoon – “God LOVES me” and “God SENDS me”

All of these sessions have age appropriate activities for small children through Sr. High youth.

Wednesday morning during our session we are traveling off-site to visit the Caddo Mounds State Historical Site.  This is a time of story-telling about the area and about where the Caddo Indians built a village.  A new Caddo grass house has been built that we will explore.  We will discover the everyday life and history of the ancient civilization!

If you have any questions regarding the childcare for the week or if you’d like to volunteer to help with these sessions please contact Kim VanGundy at (405) 850-4265 or email: kimvangundy76@gmail.com
